Every student gets a book at our Scholastic Book Fair which runs Tuesday-Thursday March 6-8. Thanks to fundraising by PTA, every student may select one free book valued under $8, during in-class "shopping."  Families are encouraged to shop before and after school, or online to purchase more books for friends and family.  Spread the word...there's even an online fair, open at http://www.scholastic.com/bf/dpis
Our 4-5th grade students songwriting workshops with STYLE musicians received national attention in an article circulated at http://www.mackintysl.com/singing-in-the-stacks-a-makerspace-with-style/

Our GRC team the "Super Targets" placed third in the semi-final round at SPL. Congratulations to all 50+ readers who participated in the Global Reading Challenge this year.

How's this for a busy librarian?  Mr Seasholes added wheels shelving in the library over winter break: https://youtu.be/LQx30XhBjY8

Description generated with very high confidenceDid you ever wonder, “What’s Bookman Doing Now?” Being the librarian at Dearborn Park International School is a dream job for me. I work hard to deliver the best of what school libraries can bring to each and every reader, students and adults.  I love everything about our library’s interaction with staff, classes and families. That does mean that sometimes I’m collaborating with others, either online through meetings or in face to face events that take me away from school.

This year I feel fortunate to serve Washington State’s school, public, academic and special libraries as president of our Washington Library Association It’s extra work that brings benefits to our community. You can learn more http://wla.org or via my blog: http://bookmansbytes.blogspot.com
